Same-Day Glasses in Gachie —
Ready in 3 Hours, Guaranteed
Walk in without an appointment, get your eyes tested, choose your frames and collect prescription glasses — all in a single visit. Here is exactly how it works, what it costs, and what you should know before you come in.
Why Same-Day Glasses Matter in Gachie
Most optical shops in Kiambu and Nairobi ask you to come back in three days, a week, or even two weeks for your glasses. That means taking time off work twice, arranging school transport twice, and — most critically — going without clear vision in between.
At Ottico Eyecare on Redhill Road, Gachie, we cut every standard lens in our own in-house lab. Your prescription never leaves the building. That is what makes 3-hour turnaround possible — not a gimmick, not a marketing claim, but a direct result of owning the full process from eye test to lens cutting to frame fitting.
The full visit in one sentence: Walk in → eye test (20–30 min) → choose frames → lenses cut in-house → collect your glasses → leave seeing clearly. Total time: 3–4 hours.
What Lens Types Are Available Same Day?
This is where most opticians disappoint. They offer same-day service for basic prescriptions only, then tell you at the counter that your prescription is “too complex” for same-day service. At Ottico Eyecare, same-day cutting covers all of the following:
- Single vision lenses — the most common. For shortsightedness (myopia), longsightedness (hyperopia) or astigmatism.
- Bifocal lenses — two focal zones in one lens, for reading and distance vision without switching glasses.
- Progressive (varifocal) lenses — a seamless transition from near to intermediate to distance. No visible line.
- Blue light blocking lenses — reduces digital eye strain for heavy screen users. Available in clear or tinted.
- Anti-glare and anti-reflective lenses — essential for night driving and reducing reflection in artificial light.
- Prescription sunglasses — UV400 protection with your correction built in. Same-day available in most cases.
Exception: Very high-power prescriptions (outside our in-house stock range) are ordered from specialist suppliers and take up to 10 working days. We will always tell you upfront if your prescription falls into this category before you commit.
How the 3-Hour Process Works
Here is the step-by-step of what happens on your visit:
Eye Test — 20 to 30 minutes
A comprehensive exam covering visual acuity, prescription accuracy, eye muscle balance, eye health screening and digital eye strain assessment. Cost: KSh 300 standalone, free with glasses purchase.
Frame Selection — 10 to 20 minutes
Browse our collection of 200+ frames — men’s, ladies, unisex, children’s and sunglasses. Brands include Ray-Ban, Emporio Armani, Calvin Klein, Vogue, Oakley, Prada and Ottico Eyewear. Our team helps match frames to your face shape and lifestyle.
Lens Cutting — In-House Lab
Your chosen frames go directly to our in-house lab where lenses are cut, edged and fitted to your exact prescription. No couriers. No waiting for stock to arrive from Nairobi.
Collection & Fitting — 10 minutes
We notify you when your glasses are ready — usually within 3 hours. We fit and adjust the frames to your face, explain lens care, and confirm you are comfortable with your vision before you leave.
How Much Do Same-Day Glasses Cost?
A complete pair of prescription glasses at Ottico Eyecare starts at KSh 2,999 — frames and lenses included. The eye test is free with purchase. There are no consultation fees, no hidden fitting charges.
Pricing varies based on the frame brand and lens type you choose. Every product in our shop displays the full price upfront — frames plus lenses — so you always know the total before you commit.
For a full breakdown by lens type and frame tier, see our eye test and glasses pricing page.
Do You Need a Prescription to Come In?
No. If you already have a current prescription from another optician, we can use it. If you do not — or if your prescription is more than 12 months old — we will test you on-site. The eye test takes 20–30 minutes and costs KSh 300, or is free with your glasses purchase.
Children who have never worn glasses before are also welcome. We use picture-based testing that requires no reading ability, from age 3.
Who Should Consider Same-Day Glasses?
Same-day service is ideal for anyone who cannot afford to be without glasses for days at a time. That includes:
- Working adults who drive and need clear vision immediately
- School children whose learning is affected by poor vision
- People whose glasses have broken or been lost
- Anyone relocating to Kiambu or Nairobi who needs glasses set up quickly
- Office workers experiencing headaches or eye fatigue from screens
Closest to you: We are at Westbay Mall on Redhill Road, Gachie — easily accessible from Ruaka, Runda, Gigiri, Nyari, Kitusuru, Tigoni and Lavington. No appointment needed.
